Mᵃ Isabel is a geologist from the University of Chile and the Technical University of Munich, specialising in economic geology, mineral exploration, hydrogeology, and geothermal energy. She has technical experience in both Chile and abroad, complemented by strong skills in adapting to new environments and working in multidisciplinary teams.
Representative Projects
In her thesis, Mᵃ Isabel participated in research using electrical resistivity tomography to explore the circulation of geothermal fluids in La Araucanía. Her work in the ANID-FONDAP ACE210005 project enabled local-scale modelling of fluid circulation in areas such as Huife and Menetúe. Additionally, she has developed conceptual models in shallow geothermal energy by analysing commonly used geophysical methods in this field, focusing on data application for environmental and sustainability studies in Chile.
Work Experience
In 2023, Mᵃ Isabel worked as an external geologist for Minera San Pedro in Tiltil, Chile, supporting internal drilling campaigns with detailed drill hole descriptions and database updates. She also contributed to the mine's future exploration and production processes by providing data for geological and extraction models. Previously, she completed her internship with Barrick Gold at El Indio, where she focused on detailed outcrop descriptions and structural measurements. She also described samples and drill holes, analysing petrography, alteration, and mineralisation.
Qualifications and Software
Mᵃ Isabel holds a degree in geology from the University of Chile and the Technical University of Munich. She has an intermediate level in ArcGIS and user-level proficiency in software such as Python, MatLab, QGIS, and ENVI.
